From Drilling to Drinking

Aqua Boreholes Offers Long-Term, Sustainable Borehole Services

Borehole Services and Solutions

Drilling a borehole normally requires extensive research and planning on your part and ours. However, as our borehole services and solutions are situated in Gauteng and its surrounding areas, we may have already drilled a borehole in your area. Once the necessary surveys are conducted and an underground water source is detected, gaining access to the potential drill site is the next step. Our extensive fleet of drilling rigs is suitable to our diverse customer base and accessing your property with our rigs may only require minimal structural changes. Whether drilling for a borehole requires our compact, manoeuvrable drill rig for residential properties or our larger, faster rigs for industrial operations, you can rest assured that we always prioritise a hassle-free experience. Our borehole services include reinforcing the drilled hole and installing the necessary pumps to extract the water, feeding it through a plumbing system to your taps.

Yield Testing for Borehole Viability

Our borehole services encompass conducting yield testing for borehole drilling to determine the viability of the water source by evaluating the capacity of the underlying aquifer. By installing a test pump, we pump water from the drilled borehole at controlled rates monitoring any drawdown in the water level. We conduct these vital tests to determine the amount of water that can be yielded safely from the borehole against the recharge rate from the underground source. To avoid your borehole running dry, we ensure that the total amount of water extracted is always less than the natural recharge rate. As passionate as we are about providing you with an alternative water source, we are equally passionate about preserving this finite resource.

Borehole Services FAQ?

Our approach is one of complete transparency, ensuring you will encounter no hidden surprises along the way. With that in mind, we answer some of the questions that you may have:

Will I be able to find water on my property?

There is a chance that we will not be able to determine the presence of groundwater on your property. However, this is highly unlikely. By using the latest, state-of-the-art technology at our disposal, we have proven time and again that water can be found in the most difficult of places. Our 99% success rate proves it.

How deep will the borehole be?

The depth of the borehole is dependent on where we intersect the underground water source as well as the area where you reside or conduct your business. In some locations, sufficient water reserves may be encountered at a 30-metre depth. In other areas, however, we may have to drill up to 150 metres to access a viable water source. Our easy-access drill rigs can accommodate these depths comfortably.

How much does it cost to drill a borehole?

Costs for borehole services depend on whether the borehole must make up a part of an off-grid system or purely be a municipal backup. We present a comprehensive quote personalised to your requirements once a free on-site assessment has been conducted and our qualified technicians have gathered all the necessary information to design your system.

How long is the complete installation process?

From start to finish, the entire process can take up to 3 to 5 working days, broken down as follows:

    • Drilling and casing of the borehole – 1 day
    • Yield testing the borehole – 5 to 6 hours
    • Pump, tank and filtration system – 2 to 3 days

Depending on the depth that needs to be reached, the drilling process itself can take up the better part of a day. We then conduct yield tests, send the sample water to a laboratory to be tested, and install the pump system, storage tanks, and filtration system, if needed. We offer end-to-end borehole services and will ensure that your system is operating effectively and according to your specifications before we leave.

Is a borehole worth the financial investment?

When factoring in water scarcity, periods of drought, poor municipal supply, ageing infrastructure, and astronomical monthly increases, the answer is yes! A borehole is certainly worth the financial investment. The initial outlay may seem costly, but considering the long-term benefits, your investment is worth every cent.
As our expert borehole services tick all the boxes, you can expect a reliable and sustainable natural source of water for decades and, if properly maintained, it will produce yields for generations to come.
