Aqua Borehole Solutions specializes in Borehole Drilling, Borehole Yield Testing, Borehole Pump and Tank Installations, Water Filtration, Municipal Backup Systems
Aqua Boreholes is the premier provider of water well location solutions, and water detection is the first step towards achieving water security. With the latest cutting-edge technology at our disposal, we can assess the presence of groundwater on your property before any drilling commences.
There is no need to inundate you with technical jargon, however, it is worth knowing that water surveying has only recently been introduced to water well location detection and therefore, its accuracy can’t be guaranteed. At Aqua Boreholes, we have access to historical geophysical data which assist us in determining the best occurrence of groundwater and its long-term sustainability
Mapping and Surveying for a Sustainable Water Supply
Successful water detection is, in part, about delving into the hidden depths of the sub-surface layers underneath your property revealing the underlying structures that determine the presence, distribution and flow of groundwater. By consulting historical geological maps of the area and carefully studying its ground formations, we can make a detailed assessment of water-bearing rock formations including their filtration capacity, storage potential, permeability and water quality. Â Our comprehensive assessment paints a complete picture of the entire groundwater system under your property and is in line with responsible water management practices.
In addition to the previously gathered geological data, information about existing boreholes proves invaluable in selecting the optimal drilling spot and anticipating the potential outcome. Importantly, the more boreholes that are drilled dry in an area, the greater the risk that the water strike rate will be lower.
Once this information has been collated, it typically allows us to reach a more positive water strike percentage rate.Â
What are the best indicators for finding a reliable aquifer on my property?
Whether your sustainable borehole is drilled in an urban or rural area, you will be able to gauge whether water detection is possible if there are existing boreholes in your neighbourhood or if you live in an area located close to surface water sources, such as rivers, streams, natural dams, and lakes. This may support the presence of a water source to an extent. Still, we prefer to rely on geology to confirm the presence of an underground water table.
How do you check if a borehole is viable?
Once we have intersected the aquifer, we conduct a yield test as this provides us with valuable insight into the long-term potential of the borehole. Following the removal of loose cuttings and debris from the drilled borehole, we will install a test pump to assess the borehole’s sustainability. By pumping water at a controlled rate and monitoring the resulting drop in the water level, we can measure the borehole’s ability to provide you with a consistent flow for decades without significantly depleting the aquifer.
Does my borehole need to be registered?
The good news is that under the National Water Act of 1998, domestic use of borehole water, including watering a small garden, typically does not require registration. However, it’s important to check with your local municipality, as it may have separate registration requirements for groundwater use on your property.
What happens if you can’t find water on my property?
While our agreement focuses on drilling the borehole on your property, we understand the importance of having access to a reliable water source. Our advanced water detection technology significantly increases the chances of encountering groundwater. To further enhance your confidence, you are welcome to request a list of successful boreholes we’ve drilled in your area. This will not only supply you with a local track record and demonstrate our experience in locating water sources but will also give you peace of mind in the probability that we will find water on your property.
Aqua Boreholes has a name and reputation built on trust. We don’t want to burden you with unnecessary costs, which is why we consult geophysical and geological data beforehand to increase your chances of finding water. Our continued success rate proves time and time again that water can be found in the most difficult of places.
