Borehole Drilling

Aqua Borehole Solutions specializes in Borehole Drilling, Borehole Yield Testing, Borehole Pump and Tank Installations, Water Filtration, Municipal Backup Systems

Borehole Drilling

At Aqua Boreholes, we recognise the importance of residential borehole drilling and are well-equipped to offer our services to residents and commercial entities alike. We dispel the notion that borehole drilling is exclusively employed for the commercial, industrial or municipal sectors.

Often borehole drilling is associated with large, cumbersome equipment; however, we understand that limited access sites and challenging terrain, specifically in residential areas, may require compact, manoeuvrable drilling rigs. Our medium-sized rigs offer a time-saving and efficient solution for borehole projects requiring expedited completion.

We offer our customers swift and convenient service. With a workshop available on our premises, we check our drill rigs daily and keep them in pristine working condition so that we can complete the borehole drilling process as quickly as possible. Entrusting your borehole drilling to our expert team won’t leave you with messy oil stains in your driveway or parking area or unsightly broken rigs that take days to remove.

Aqua Boreholes will provide more information tailored to your unique property in a no-charge site visit.

How the Borehole Drilling Process Works

  • Following a comprehensive site survey and the formulation of a drilling plan, we are ready to start drilling.
  • To ensure the structural integrity of the borehole, we reinforce the drilled hole with a special casing.
  • Next, we install a test pump to conduct a series of tests that show us how much the water level drops when we pump from the borehole and what we can do to keep it stable.
  • This crucial information also guides us in selecting the most suitable pumping system and, if needed, filtration system for permanent installation.
  • Finally, we install the necessary pipework and pump in the borehole to bring the water to your taps.
Water Detection

To ensure that the drilling process is met with minimal disruption, we conduct a complimentary on-site assessment before drilling starts. The evaluation of your property serves a two-fold purpose. Firstly, to identify the optimal access point for our drilling equipment, and secondly, to ensure that we use the most suitable-sized rig on the day.

Borehole Drilling Machine

We understand that drilling a borehole may seem like a daunting prospect and address some questions and concerns you may have:

Is drilling a borehole messy?

Unfortunately, both mess and noise are unavoidable during drilling. It is important to understand that when the water table is intersected, a discharge of mud slurry from the borehole is a natural consequence of the drilling process. We take utmost care to minimise any mess and clean up afterwards. We suggest forewarning neighbours of the expected noise. This short-term disruption pales in comparison to the long-term value of a secure water supply.

Do you need a large space to have a borehole?

L
K

Contrary to popular belief, a borehole doesn’t take up as much space as one would think. As the reason for a borehole is to access groundwater, the depth is greater rather than the actual diameter. For example, a residential or domestic borehole is between 125mm and 220mm wide and a commercial borehole is up to 260mm. The construction work may require more space. Besides accessing your property with our rigs, there needs to be ample space between the borehole and surrounding structures to safeguard against possible collapse and intrusion of contaminants.

Will I get more water the deeper you drill?

L
K

One cannot simply assume that drilling deeper will yield more water. The exact location of an underground water source depends on the type of ground. For example, with granite, water is usually found in the fractured rock near the surface. Every drilling site is different because it depends on the type of ground. Usually, for residential boreholes, we drill up to 40 to 80 metres deep depending on the area and the type of geology. It is important for the driller to know the types of geology that must be drilled into as it guides the client in deciding whether to drill deeper or not. At Aqua Boreholes, we take samples at every metre and keep track of what we drill through. This enables us to make more informed decisions during the borehole drilling process.

At Aqua Boreholes, our primary objective isn’t just about drilling your borehole and then leaving your property. We believe in developing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our customers through our end-to-end borehole solutions. From drilling to drinking, we will be with you every step of the way.
